William Sharpe has had an independent maritime and transportation law practice in Toronto since 1990. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1982 and the BC bar in 1992. He has assisted clients in maritime commercial transactions and maritime claims, through the whole of ships’ life cycles from naval architects professional liability to shipbreaking disputes. William Sharpe has appeared as admiralty counsel before all levels of Ontario courts, the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has worked extensively on policy and regulatory development He is a titulary member of the Comite Maritime International and a director of the Canadian Maritime Law Association.
Marcos Cervantes- Associate
Marcos Cervantes is an associate at William M. Sharpe, Barrister & Solicitor since September 2011. He articled with a maritime and transportation law firm in Montreal before being called to the Quebec bar in 2010. Marcos articled for Ontario with William M. Sharpe, Barrister & Solicitor and was called to the Ontario bar in 2011. He holds a masters degree in international taxation from the University of Toronto and is currently a student at the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers. In 2015, Marcos obtained a Certificate in Marine Transportation. He has studied Mexican Law in Guanajuato, Mexico, as part of an exchange student program. Marcos is fluent in French and Spanish and speaks and reads functional Arabic.
